Hey there. What can I say? I'm in love with BoP. I discovered it by chance, just having a look at some Cillian Murphy pics to drool over. Then, Google Images showed me the picture of him as a woman. "What the hell?", I thought and subsequently decided to investigate a little bit. Then, the surprise came.
From the very first scene, the movie is so full of life and feelings. Everything is sunshine (unintended pun, if you know what I mean) despite the sadness surrounding poor Kitten from the very beginning. But there's light because she shines and finds beauty and magic everywhere.
Apart from that, well, I'm a Spaniard spending my last days in Ireland before coming back home after quite a tiring month. I'm at Sligo currently and spent all the time thinking about getting the book. A couple of weeks ago I went to a second-hand book shop to try my luck. I found it: "Breakfast on Pluto", by Patrick McCabe. I couldn't believe my luck and how ironic life is. Yup, apparently the author lives in Sligo, or so the book says. I haven't started it yet, I prefer to read it slowly and carefully, enjoying every single word in it. And then, I'll probably write a fanfic. I already have something in mind.

I’ve been aching to watch Breakfast On Pluto again for about a week now. Last week I listened to the soundtrack and was becoming ridiculously giddy, even daydreaming about the movie in the car on the way to work. I kept thinking of images and scenes and honestly wondering, “Did I make that up? Is that really in the movie?” Sounds silly I know, but that’s how it was.

So last night I finally got the chance to watch it again for the seventh time. The Seventh Dream of Ms. Kitten Heaven – cut for length, spoilers, and general fangirling.Collapse )

Cillian Murphy owns this movie, despite the masterful hand of Neil Jordan. I can think of no other actor who could have pulled this off, who could have made this character so real. It amazes me that Murphy himself has said he often thinks about Kitten and wonders how she’s doing, like she is a real person. To the non-initiated it may sound crazy, but I feel the same way. I continually feel inspired by Kitten, to try and see the positive in the darkest circumstances. I may not always succeed, but I certainly have changed after seeing this movie and being so deeply affected by this character.

Please, everyone, add your own thoughts!!

I very much want to see The Crying Game (I've read the script, interviews, and everything but live in a very anti-alternative lifestyle community and have no money really to buy the DVD). I followed BOP because of the director and convinced my Da to buy it on PREVIEW. Am I the only one here who had to watch BOP with their Da? Lol. My Da liked it too, he's just not a fangirl (obviously) and hasn't brought it up since. ^_^ BOP was a nice family experience for me!

What my Da said about it, "I like that they protrayed a very nurturing transexual—usually transexuals are portrayed as reckless unloving people."

What I said, "Wow. That was pretty pro-life, hugh? Sugar baby love? I like how through all the despair and War the balance turned out to be birth. Cool!"

Today, being June 16th, is the memorial day of Saint Cettin who was a spiritual student of Saint Patrick. Saint Cettin helped Patrick evangelize Ireland. His shrine at Orran was a place of pilgrimage for centuries.

In later years (um... MUCH later) he would be the inspiration for a fictional moving picture character to call herself 'Kitten' and make regular women feel inadequate in hosiery and heels.

And out on the mount came Cillian Murphy. And he held his wig on high, and related the thoughts of his fans.

'In his name, there was squeeage, and grand tribute of fanart, fanfiction, and crossovers. The pictures came plentiful, yet they first were hard-garnered, and revered all the more. And the high definition loveliness begot more fanwork. Lo! Slash was commonplace. The Lord saw this, and declared it good. And there was much rejoicing.'

Saint 'Kitten' pic behind cut for being slightly too large.Collapse )

Amen.

Well, now I've learned how to extract video from DVDs and make MP4 files. Awesome.

I made clips of all four deleted scenes from my European Breakfast on Pluto DVD, plus I edited an excerpt of the Making-Of-BoP featurette that's on both versions of the DVD. Then Shannon made a super-lovely new video page for cillianONLINE, so they're ready for viewing! *pats us both on the back*
